One year ago today (4/7), on the heels of a devastating ice storm, we began a massive renovation project of our entire storefront. We didn't tell you because we know you don't love change - and we knew many of you would have freaked out. And so our secret was exclusive to those visiting in person. And when anyone would ask what we were doing, our answer was simply, "replacing a window", which was, in truth, how the whole thing began. But is such the way with a 100 year old building - one cracked window lead to many tens of thousands of dollars, and man hours later - and subsequently a complete rebuild of our 1934 storefront. Most of you never noticed the work had been done and that was the specific goal given to our amazing and capable contractors who we're proud to have worked with for many decades. Thank you so much to Doug and Patrice Carlson with DWS Builders in Petoskey for their talent and patience. When the scaffolding came down and the bunting went up on July 3, a brand new, strong and sturdy, beautiful but visibly unchanged general store was unveiled - ready for the next 100 years of Good Hart friends and neighbors.
